About Steven

Golden Wing Foundation

Steven commissioned in the Navy through ROTC at the Colorado University in Boulder, CO. After receiving his wings in 2014, he was assigned to the C-2 Providers Fleet support in Atsugi, Japan. Steven accumulated over 1,200 flying hours and 100 carrier arresting landings. In his final flight, the C-2A Greyhound he was piloting suffered catastrophic engine failure and he was forced to execute an emergency water landing. In 10 ft swells, Steven was able to land the C-2A. Eight of the 11 crew and passengers escaped, Steven and two other sailors did not. His skill and determination as a pilot were responsible for 8 people being returned to their families. As his co-pilot stated, Steven "Flew the hell out of that plane." Our family couldn't agree more. Though he is no longer with us, we are proud that his final act on earth was looking out for others. We would expect nothing less of him. The Gold Wings Foundation was established to honor his impact and will continue to support activities that Stevie held near and dear to his heart.
